Summer Gardens Bursting with Blooms

Point Defiance Park Rose Garden

Summer has finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest and with it, seasonal garden blooms! (For those of you who aren’t familiar with our weather patterns here, summer doesn’t usually start until mid July.) The very popular Rose Garden at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington is busy these days with locals and tourists (myself included), admiring the blooms and snapping photos. The garden has not just roses, but all kinds of floral species. Another section of the garden that will become very popular soon is the Dahlia Garden. These generally bloom later in the season, but I noticed a few blooms getting a head start already. There are other sections of the garden dedicated to other specific floral species as well.

There are three separate walkways with arches and gazebos, all intertwined with varying floral species. The one featured in the photo above has lovely, pink Climbing Roses, and along the center of the walkway are brightly colored Begonias. Here is an angled shot of another one of the walkways, as well as several other photos of the garden’s inhabitants.
