It’s springtime in the Pacific Northwest, and gardens are bursting with blooms! A popular Northwest destination for both locals and international travelers alike, especially this time of year, is the Lan Su Chinese Garden, located in Portland, Oregon. The garden is one of the most authentic Chinese gardens outside of China, and it occupies a whole city block.
With our above average rainfall this past winter, I was not able to get out to do much, hence the long hibernation period. The weather cleared just enough this past week to provide a beautiful day of sunshine, and that prompted me to make a quick decision to hop on a train to Portland to visit the Chinese garden during spring bloom time. It had been several years since I last visited it. The garden is a short distance from the historic Portland train depot and can be easily reached by walking. I opted for a short cab ride. Here are a few photos I took of the garden. The sunlight was very bright, no clouds in the sky, lots of strong shadows—not quite the right conditions for outdoor photography; but, we need to take what we can get at times. Enjoy!
