Blue Flower Mystique

BLUE THOU ART, INTENSELY BLUE;

FLOWER, WHENCE CAME THY DAZZLING HUE?

James Montgomery (1771-1854)

Of all the flowers I take pictures of, I have to admit that my favorite ones are of the color blue. From the turquoise Blue Poppy to the deep blue Delphinium, I am instantly drawn to their heavenly essence. There is something about a blue flower that makes it seem more unique than all the others, if that’s possible. What do you think? What is the curious mystique about a blue flower?

  1. You are drawn to their heavenly essence because you are of their heavenly essence.

  2. These blues are a delight to see.

    I think it’s because there’s a part of us that finds blue flowers unexpected. I remember seeing the blue poppies for the first time a couple of years ago (thanks to your blog pointing me in the right direction) and they boggled my mind (and continue to do so).

  4. Lovely blue colour to the eyes! The poem says it all… thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, Peggy. 🙂

    Perhaps it’s because it’s my favorite color (and yours?) But as in a previous comment, there don’t seem to be as many blossoms in that vivid blue. That makes them special.

Thank you!
